The production of ocular prostheses in Cameroon
In Cameroon, losing an eye is a tragedy. But for many, the hardest part begins afterward: how can you regain a normal appearance when ocular prostheses are rare, expensive, and often of poor quality? In this report, we introduce you to Michel Ngakoue, an ocularist based in Douala. Trained in South Africa, he has been putting his expertise to work for patients for over 10 years. In his laboratory, he creates custom-made prostheses to restore hope, confidence, and dignity to those who need them. Journalist: Maxime Farrel Bounya
